“Some categories of remarkable men, growing old:
1) Several becoming their own monuments, expecting you to lift your hat and bow your spine when passing by.
2) With despotic gestures others show us where to go – like Lenin figures used to stand on their pedestals: One way only !
3) A rare type of those scoutmasters, born headmen, tireless pathfinders are neither waiting for cheap devotion nor directing their followers to only one (maybe disastrous) route.
They are just there.
Each of us independent cruisers sometimes will turn towards such a living lighthouse to check our position.
It’s our choice.
Having been one of “his” authors, I often benefited myself from this man type 3), who unbelievably withstood the tides of life for 85 years now.
Here is a deep cordial bow to this great pilot and navigator.”
