Till Saturday in Dublin

For those of you who will be attending, we look forward to welcoming you in Dublin and to making your stay with us as pleasant as possible. It is nineteen years since the IFC was here and so much has changed in our work and our world since 1990. We are older, wiser, poorer and, above all else, still alive and kicking with new feature/documentary makers joining our number every day. Long may it last! For those of you who are unable to travel to Dublin for the 35th IFC, we will be thinking of you and missing you and hoping you will be in our midst next year.
This is also the time of year when we take time out to think about all of our colleagues who are no longer with us but whose spirit, enthusiasm and contribution continues to carry us forward in our work.
Till Saturday in Dublin when we will raise a glass to us all, present and absent!

Onderwerp: IFC DublinHello Willem, how are you? I´m ok.
It supposed that tomorrow I have to take my plane to Dublin but due the circumstances that are happening in the borders with the Mexicans, I decide not fly. It is a big shame, but I can’t find another way. My flight make a stop in Paris, because we don’t have a route directly to Ireland, and may you’ve heard what’s is happening in China and others countries that decided close the flights to and from Mexico in the lately days due the virus. The French government had in mind suspend all the flights from Mexico a few days ago, but Air France said no. Even that the treat for the Mexicans is really, let’s say, different. I heard in the Spanish newscast from Radio Francia Internacional that all the people going from Mexico are arriving to a separated area… I will cancel now my booking in the hostel and I will call to the airline to see what I can do.
Willem, It is a shame that I can’t listen your seminar and everything. I waited until the last moment to decide what to do but even the situation in Mexico is taking a good face and getting stabilization, the things looks bad for the Mexicans in a foreign territory.
Be honest, I’m so sad but things of the destiny.
I hope see you, everyone, in a close future.
Regards.

Try it Out and Shoot! Radio with subtitles
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
For along time I have felt the need to try to overcome language barriers in radio making through using the Internet. Now, thanks to the speed in distributing video, sound and transcripts via the net – new possibilities are here!
Please visit our site at:
http://www.sr.se/p1/documentary
Here you will find Swedish documentaries distributed in two ways: RadioVideo – video-files to be watched or downloaded in mpg4 format, with the original Swedish sound as soundtrack, and sub-titles in a slightly modernized way in the image-area.
Listen&Read – mp3-files to be downloaded in Swedish and listen to – the old fashioned way – while reading transcripts in PDF format.
But our site is first and foremost intended to be a junction for all radio documentary making in English! We would therefore like to invite you to exchange links with us to your and our documentary output and info on the net. Please give our colleague Carina Bergholm-Sundén a shout via e-mail and we*ll set the process going!
e-mail: carina.bergholm-sunden@sr.se dokred@sr.se
Please feel double welcome to contact us for further queries, suggestions or thoughts!
We hope this is just the start of something we shall shape together!
Best wishes,
