Dear Colleagues, The EBU Features Group met on Saturday, 3 March in Copenhagen to select the programmes that will feature in the IFC listening sessions.

No fewer than 35 entries had been submitted for potential inclusion.

This was in itself a true success, and it was a challenge as well as a privilege to select 24 productions among these entries.

As a matter of fact, the quality level this year was very high, and the Group members had to make difficult choices. We are pleased indeed to confirm that the following entries were selected to be part of the listening sessions at the IFC, and we extend our congratulations:

Next meeting : Paris 13-16 June 2007

In an era where technological advances such as surround-sound, telecommunications and digital interactivity have been put at the disposal of artists, producers and broadcasters, the EBU Ars Acustica Group makes it its main mission to bring new, thrilling and exciting listening experiences to the audience – listening experiences pointing towards the future […]

The EBU Ars Acustica Group serves as a node for the exchange of radio art productions, project proposals and the exchange of information about activities and events in media art in different countries.

It stimulates and encourages discussion of current trends in theory and practice of radio art and connected fields, and the realization of co-productions between broadcasting corporations. It is strongly convinced of the necessity of an art form reflecting the development of radio and broadcasting in our society. …

Thembi’s AIDS Diary in South Africa

Dear Friends of Radio Diaries,

I’m writing to you from South Africa where we are on the last leg of Thembi’s AIDS Diary tour.

I had not planned to send an email update, as most of you live in the US. But our two week tour of this country with Thembi and Melikhaya (Thembi’s boyfriend) has turned into the most valuable thing Radio Diaries has ever done.

Thembi has talked to thousands of people – in person and over the airwaves – from a high school in Soweto, to Constitution Hill in Johannesburg, to a clinic in a squatter camp on a former municipal dump, to a small village with no electricity or running water.

Thembi has been giving out her cell phone number in radio interviews and at events, and dozens of people have been calling her everyday – a woman looking for the nearest clinic, a young girl wanting to know how long she should stay a virgin. Thembi has become the host of her own cell phone call-in show.

Please see Thembi’s blog. It is amazing.

You can find the blog, as well as info about our final Cape Town events, and hear Thembi’s AIDS Diary at:

As always, thanks for listening,
