[UPD] free Audacity sound editor

Because it is a work in progress and does not yet come with complete documentation or translations into foreign languages, it is recommended for more advanced users.
For all users, Audacity 1.2.5 is a minor bug-fix update that addresses some problems with Audacity 1.2.4, but does not add any significant new features.
It is complete and fully documented.
You can have both Audacity 1.2.5 and 1.3.2 installed simultaneously.
Also, we have just made available a set of 92 LADSPA plug-ins for Windows (for both Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x).”
Download Audacity now:

See the 1.2.5 Release Notes for a complete list of changes and known problems in Audacity 1.2.5:

See New Features in 1.3 for information about the new beta version:

AKE BLOMSTROM AWARDS
In this capacity, he was a great mentor and supporter of young programme makers.
After his untimely death, it therefore seemed obvious to his friends and colleagues within the international features community that the way to honour his memory was through the establishment of an award in the form of a travel stipend to unable talented young documentary makers to attend the International Featutes Conference.Since its inception, the Ake Blomstrom Award scheme has grown and flourished. It is now group funded and run, under the auspices of the EBU, by public service broadcasters in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Belguim, Ireland and Croatia.
Its existence means that we are able to invite younger programme makers who might not otherwise have been able to join us to attend the International Features Conference to present their work, to listen, to discuss.

This year, the Chair of the Ake Blomstrom Committee moves from Ireland to Norway, where Berit Hedemann (photo) will be in charge.
It has been six years since I took over this job from Barbro Holmberg of YLE (Finland).
It has been a pleasure and an honour to serve in this capacity.
I really believe the Ake Blomstrom Awards to be very important for the development and furtherance of our work internationally.
Next month, when Berit posts details of how to apply for the scheme, I would urge all those of you who are eligible to send in your entries.
Finally, I would like to thank the selection committees that have worked with me over the years for their time and energy.
