Can anyone advice me?
Hi all,So far I’ve been working (for interviews, reports and documentarys) with very basic equipment.I have a small minidiscrecorder (MZ-R30) with a dynamic Sennheiser MD21.Now I want to get myself someting better (basicly get rid of the annoying hiss on low volume recordings) and I find the new flascard/hard disk recorders between 300 (new minidisc) and 3000 Euro’s.
Can anyone advice me on this?
Looked at the Nagra Ares M (very small inconvenient buttons), the Marantz (big) and the Sound Devices recorders (very nice and expensive).
Also considering a stereomic. now. Sennheiser Mk6 system or perhaps Sennheiser MKE 44p.
Any advice is welkom!
I am not very technically educated and I am really looking for something easy to handle, so I can focus on my interviews.
Do my own Pro Tools editing.

“don’t know where, don’t know when…” (Vincent van Merwijk)
“After almost 30 years I will leave…”Dear Friends,
30 years ago, as an angry young and starting program maker – the punker that I was and wrote about on this place -, discovering the building I was working in, I saw these old men – yes, they were all men! – forgotten in the ceiling rooms of our broadcasting villas.
Grey and forgotten they just came down for drinking too much in the restaurant – already on early hours -, complaining about modern times.
Longing for those good old days.
And I thought: never like that!
Grey I am already. Drinking? Complaining?
After almost 30 years I will leave the broadcasting company I am working for (RVU, the Netherlands), and will leave the Netherlands Public Broadcasting.
It has been a great time in which I met so many inspiring people.
No reason for complaining at all.
Saying goodbye to Dutch Public Broadcasting means almost automatically saying goodbye to all of you.
It means that my second period as chairman of the EBU Features Group will end just a few months before the new elections.
For these few months Kari Hesthamar and Lorelei Harris will take over, and chairing the IFC in Copenhagen.
I know it’s in the best hands.
From January 2007 for me it’s time for something completely different.
The second half of my life (!) will start with a long trip, let’s say for a year or so.
And after that: no plans.
Yet.
Just a future.
Thank you for meeting you, thank you for being with you.
All the best.
We’ll meet again, but don’t ask me ‘where’ or ‘when…’

To our surprise…
Dear Friends,
To our surpriseand regret we have to let you know that Vincent van Merwijk, who has been the Chairperson of the EBU Features Group for some years, has decided to leave public broadcasting in search of new and fresh fields.Since he will no longer work in radio after February of next year, his decision has immediate effects for the organisation of the 2007 IFC in Copenhagen.
At our last meeting in Berlin, the EBU Features Group decided that we would act as co-chairpersons until the Conference at which EBU Feature Group Elections will take place.
The new chairperson will subsequently be elected from among the newly constituted Group.
We’re really looking forward to organising the IFC with the help of our Danish colleaguesand, if anyone has any suggestions, we’d be delighted to hear from you – our coordinates are available on the IFC List.
Finally, it just remains for us to thank Vincent very much for all his sterling work over the years and to wish him all the best from everybody in the Features family.
